Games Tested Today.........

Tested Rygar: The Battle Of Argus it works great!

The game involves a young fearless hero (aka me) saving a young beautiful Princess (who looks suspiciously like Britney Spears?!)......

Wednesday 2 September 2009

Games Tested Today.........

Three Games tested today!

First into the wii was a game called Rogue Trooper: The Quartz Zone Massacre, a 16+ game and when you start playing you can see why. Your dropped into the game as a soldier, shooting your way through. The game teaches as you play and the story is quite interesting....
Works with jOG, and is very immersive!

Second is a racing game, MySims Racing. Usually it is best to avoid racing games as it can be difficult to jOG and control your movements. It works with jOG and is quite entertaining - for those not jOGing! Definately one to try though - joust for kicks.

Finally a game for a movie, Coraline. I haven't seen the movie, but the game tells you what to do. You go around completing tasks and collecting those allusive buttons. I would recommend this game to fans of the film.

Games Tested This week............

This week I was entertained by two great kid's games!

Pitfall: The Big Adventure was a game I originally was unsure of, and, boy was I proved wrong. The game, like many other platform games, requires you to run around avoiding traps and collecting trinkets, but using jOG made this game a lot more fun! I could help jumping and performing other tricks making my antics, making watching me more funny than watching my progress in the game.

This game is part of a series, but is the first one for the wii - we hope it won't be the last!

There have been many SpongeBob games for the wii, most are actually quite fun. I have never been into the show (to be honest it was quite a bit before my time, FYI I am still waiting on a Power Rangers Lost Galaxy wii game. Should I continue to hold my breath then?), but I do have to admit I get a sadistic kick out of jOGging SpongeBob off platforms! SpongeBob Square Pants featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom is one of 3 (at least) SpongeBob games I have tested, and I have to admit, this is my favourite so far. Being able to change between characters (a function available on all my beloved Lego games) gives you more freedom to perform more tricks than you normally would with one character. I definitely recommend this game to people with kids looking to buy something for the pesky ankle biters! Not only will they be able to have fun with a range of Nicktoon characters, but they will have to exercise to do it (ha ha (evil laughter)!!!)

Tak And The Guardians Of Gross

Both work Great!

Saturday 15 August 2009

Games Tested Today.........

Today Fantastic Four - Rise Of The Silver Surfer, a game from the film that came out a while ago, came into jOG HQ. I wasn't looking forward to this as I had heard bad things. After testing the game I have learned......DON'T trust other peoples opinions!

This game was enjoyable and using jOG with it added to the fun! A good game.

The other game I tested was G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra. I haven't seen the film and I don't really understand the concept behind it, but this game plays like a movie. There are quite long breaks where you aren't playing but watch a mini film, but this is great when using jOG.

The breaks allow it to rest a bit cos when you're fighting the baddies (FYI I suggest keeping mums favorite vase away from your jOGing area, I learnt the bad that way) you feel like your hitting and shotting them! Great for kids especially with jOG.

Thursday 13 August 2009

Tested Today..........

Today two very different games came into the office......

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, the game from the movie, that is from the book, is another game that means nothing if you haven't read or watched Harry Potter before. So I can only recommend it to people who have watched or read it. But for you jOG fans- It is compatitable!

The Legend Of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon, again is one of those games that you need to know what is going on before you start playing. There is a story mode tho for those who need a quick catch up.

Both great for kids, and healthy when you jOG!

Tuesday 11 August 2009

Tested Today.........

The Spiderwick Chronicles, not really much to say. Works great with jOG but it is a game for fans of the movie only.

Sunday 9 August 2009

jOGging is an Opportunity!

Think of movement as an opportunity, not an inconvenience. Any form of movement is an opportunity to improve your health. jOG helps you to use your movement in an activity you wouldn't normally consider movement to be a part of!
Be active every day. Kids don't need a reason to play video games, but would probably need a reason to exercise, so why not combine the two! Make a habit of jOGging as a family instead of leaving the kids to there computer games. Exercise can help to combat depression and anxiety, and jOGging can bring the family together!
Do at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on most, preferably all, days. Do your kids need to be told to do half an hour a day of exercise? What about gaming? jOG has an LCD screeen which can tell you the amount of steps done! There is also a reset button - so no cheating!

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Playing this game with the jOG feels really great. I just loved running around as the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow and swinging the wiimote as the sword. I would recommend this game for kids who enjoyed the films, as it's not particularly difficult, and when you have to do the running as well as the sword work it really helps you get into character. It's a great laugh.

A Six-Pack By Summer?!

Interesting jOG Fact of the Week

Jogging will strengthen the muscles and bone density of your legs, hips and back. Long distance runners have very strong legs, even though they often look very thin and weak. Running does not produce bulky muscles like weight training or even circuit training does, but it does increase leg strength. Also, the constant impact caused during running can increase bone density, so long as you follow a healthy diet.

Sunday 22 March 2009

Interesting jOG Fact of the Week

If you suffer from poor appetite, jogging will improve your appetite. Along with all other forms of exercise - the harder you work, the more you need to eat to repair your muscles and refuel them. When you start to run longer distances you will start to eat to fuel your body, and may even find that you need to eat more food everyday, than you did when you were overweight.

jOGing through Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

The game has been out for a while now, but the third installment in the Metroid Prime series still demonstrates how the Wii can deliver a good First Person Shooter whilst making full use of it's motion sensing controls. I really enjoyed this game when I played through it the first time, but adding jOG to the mix made my second run through really immersive, adding a new dimension to an already indepth and innovative experience.

Tuesday 10 March 2009

Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab

Whats all this about Spongebob getting his drivers license? Thats not good for us jOGers. Hold on a minute... his cherished license is floating away, and Spongebob must chase it on foot. We've got a jOG compatable game here afterall. The game mixes multiple gameplay mechanics such as car racing and flying, but between these its also a 3D platformer involving good old fashioned running about. Its cute, simple to play and you'll only have to jOG now and then. You Spongebob fans have got it easy!

the Simpsons Game with jOG

Although the cell shaded graphics make the game look like the 2D cartoon, this game is actually a 3 dimensionsal platformer, an hilarious one too. Playing with the jOG I was struck by the irony of making Homer gorge chocolate and sweets in his fantasy chocolate land, shamelessly piling the calories on, whilst I burnt some off. The combination of jOGing and laughing out loud probably doubled the health benefits. If you enjoy the tv show and enjoy jOG then this combination is highly recommended!

Sunday 8 March 2009

Interesting jOG Fact of the Week

It increases the capacity to work and lead an active life. The fitter you are, the more active you can be. There are so many more opportunities available to people that are healthier and fitter.

'Mario Strikers' and 'Eledees' playable with jOG

'Mario Strikers Charged Football' features everyone's favorite Nintendo characters all psyched up and eager for the win. Despite being a challenging game the controls are easy to grasp and the aim is obvious, just score more goals than your rivals. Playing this game with the jOG works nicely, which ever player is selected/has-the-ball is the one who needs you to jog to make them run down the wing, dribble past defenders, or retreat to defend the counter attack.

'Eledees' is a game that makes excellent use of the Wiimote as a gravity gun. This enables you to lift and throw objects and furniture as you search around for the Eledees--small creatures who sap electrical power. I found this game incredibly fun, and the addition of the jOG really enhanced the experience. As the clock ticks down to zero the hunt for every last Eledee becomes increasingly frantic as you run about and try to zap the critters you've uncovered.

Both of these games are fast, fun and well worth trying with the jOG.

Sunday 1 March 2009

Interesting jOG Fact of the Week

Jogging makes you sleep better. If you exercise well, sleep comes so much easier. One of the most important factors for improving fitness after exercise and diet is getting adequate sleep.

Games Tested This week............

Every week we test a few wii games (yes it is a hard jOB testing video games!) This week.............

We tested Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is a first-person action-adventure game. The player controls the protagonist, Samus Aran, using the Wii Remote, Nunchuk and jOG devices.

It is actually quite alot of fun! I highly recommend this game especially with jOG as it adds a whole new dimension to the game. The graphics are great and if you are a fan of the series you will love this game with jOG.

A definate must try game!

Sunday 22 February 2009

Interesting jOG Fact of the Week

It counteracts depression. All forms of exercise can help people cope with depression.

Monday 9 February 2009

Today's Tested Ten are...

1. Lego Batman - The Video Game
2. Lego Indianna Jones The Original Adventures
3. Star Wars - The Force Unleashed
4. The Chronicles of Narnia -Prince Caspian
5. Red Steel
6. 2k Sports - Top Spin 3
7. Disney Pixar Wall.E
8. Dreamworks Shrek the Third
9. Sonic Unleashed
10. No More Heroes
and since it is the first week...

11. Anubis
12. Resident Evil 4 - Wii Edition

All the above games were tested by yours truly, and work great with jOG.

They were all available to be tested by people at the London Toy Fair 2009, below is a picture of jOG being used by two people at Re: Creation with Top Spin 3. The great thing about it was that it made playing tennis more realistic. You have to stay on the tips of your toes, constantly jOGging on the spot to play the game, whilst using your Wiimote as your racket. It was very tiring!

Although Top Spin was great my personal favorite would still have to be Lego Indianna Jones. The game starts off by letting you pick which adventure (or Movie) you wish to go on - I still haven't got the trick of the third one, where are you actually supposed to go after the library....answers on a post card please.....

jOG Compatible Games

Every week, until the launch of jOG, I the jOG bLOGGER will make a list of 10 wii games that have been tested with the jOG - and to prove it photos will be taken of the poor sap I have enrolled to the task.

So, if you have any request for games please email us at info@newconceptgaming.com.....

Keep jOGging!!!

What is a healthy number of steps?

You decide to set yourself a New Years resolution - to get in shape, but where to start?

I guess the smart thing to do would be to look at what activity you are currently doing and imrove it right?

Scouring the net I came accross an article, by Dr. Catrine Tudor-Locke, which divided people into groups using the number of steps a person does. The classification of pedometer-determined physical activity in healthy adults:

1) Under 5000 steps/day may be used as a "sedentary lifestyle index"

2) 5,000-7,499 steps/day is typical of daily activity excluding sports/exercise and might be considered "low active."

3) 7,500-9,999 likely includes some exercise or walking (and/or a job that requires more walking) and might be considered "somewhat active."

4) 10,000 steps/day indicates the point that should be used to classify individuals as "active".

5) Individuals who take more than 12,500 steps/day are likely to be classified as "highly active".

Now the question is, which group do you fall into......?

Burning Calories - How to Walk for Weight Control - A Great Article to Read...

This article explains what you need to work out and how to lose weight via an activity which is easy to do (and we do do) - ie walking.

The same trail of thought could be used for us - and unlike walking - you'll be safe and out of the cold!

An interesting snippet is that, 'A pound of fat equals 3500 calories' - Unbelievable!!!!!

This is a definate must read for those hoping to get in shape before the bikini season hits us.....
